It is with pride that the EIG awards two Bachelor's degrees authorised by a European state.

The world of jewellery and gemmology is a unique and fascinating universe.

Since the dawn of time, precious stones have been the memory of our planet. They have played a major role in human history, a symbol of power and wealth for some, of beauty, luxury, and seduction for others, or even a passion for professionals dedicated to searching for, finding, and buying the unique gem. The two worlds of coloured stones and diamonds then meet with gemmology and high jewellery.

The diversity of coloured stones allows the jeweller absolute freedom in their creations.

Thanks to the creative talent of High Jewellery houses, the three major gemstones (rubies, sapphires, and emeralds) becoming standardised has favoured the emergence on the market of lesser-known stones, with tones and appearances that allow for an explosion of colour.

In the context of the extremely complex transitions of our era, precious stones remain an economic benchmark that is unlikely to cease. This sector recruits professionals trained in excellence, innovation, respect for the planet and interculturality. Such is the objective of Monaco. Such is the objective of the EIG.

The main challenge facing today’s gemmologists is to adopt an informed approach to the issues surrounding these transitions.

Admiring the crystalline beauty of gemstones, exploring the world of stones, and developing a passion for jewellery design are the highlights of our programmes  formation – passion.

Our aim is to make you passionate gemstone professionals.

A teaching approach that alternates fundamental gemmology in the laboratory, specialised courses for careers in commerce or expertise, and meetings with professionals so that our graduates are prepared for the realities of the profession.

The EIG's trips are not optional extras; they are integrated into the programmes. They provide immediate practical, on-the-ground experience and are the culmination of the excellence training acquired in the Principality of Monaco, a country synonymous with luxury.

History of the School

Founded in 2007, the International School of Gemmology of Monaco opened its doors in the Principality to meet the demand of professionals in the field of gemmology.

As Monaco is an iconic centre of luxury and the world of HBJO (Watchmaking, Jewellery, Gemstones, Goldsmithing), EIG Monaco trains future gemmologists with an objective approach to the field.

The school aims to develop learners capable of working in various sectors: mining, retail, laboratories, consulting firms, high jewellery houses, and many more!

The President of EIG Monaco places a strong emphasis on gemmological expertise and jewellery news, valuing practical experience in her various programmes.

The Bachelor's degree course allows for a more in-depth approach with six gemology specialisms.

The student must take the time to formalise their eye and learn the use of the different tools. The various trips to Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Madagascar have allowed the school to forge strong links with its local partners. Each year, students put the skills acquired during their studies into practice and discover the specificities of the producing countries.
