TRAVEL

WITH EIG MONACO

L’EIG Monaco organises one or more educational trips each year to essential countries for the gemstone trade.

Voyage au Sri Lanka avec l'EIG Monaco

BUDGET

Depending on the country, the EIG supports learners from their arrival at the airport until their departure from the airport, or from their arrival at the Gem Show.

On-site courses are conducted with an expert gemologist.

In Asia, the budget for EIG students includes local transport by private EIG van (including airport – guesthouse – airport return), accommodation for the entire stay in guesthouses and hotels, and half-board. Depending on the country, this ranges from €750 to €950. For GemShow events in the USA, Switzerland, France, Canada, etc., EIG organises the trip and allows students to choose their accommodation and internal transport according to their budget.

Duration

According to Asian countries, the length of stay on site is 5 to 7 days. For GemShows (USA, Canada, Switzerland, France etc.), the length of visits varies from 1 to 5 days depending on the country.

ACCOMMODATION AND HALF BOARD CONDITIONS

In Sri Lanka, in order to facilitate on-site courses, accommodation is in a communal lodging house (or hotel depending on the geographical areas) bringing all the students together. Breakfast on-site and local lunches are covered by the EIG. Visits are mainly in the morning to mines and local markets. Lunch is taken on-site according to local possibilities or nearby. For GemShows in European or North American countries, the EIG provides a shortlist of nearby accommodation and does not cover accommodation or catering. Visits take place all day.

As an integral part of the Gemmologist Bachelor programme, trips are a supportive approach to defining your professional goals. They allow for a better understanding of the choice of actions to prioritise on the ground.

The EIG is one of the only schools in the world to offer this type of educational supplement.

This operational approach provides future gemologists with initial guidance regarding how to behave abroad, both in terms of intercultural communication and the development of their personal network, as well as problem-solving.

...travel allows the practice of gemmology in real-life situations, directly within major international gem trading hubs.
